Before you tell me to upgrade, I have better computers than this. I've reinstalled Windows to see if I just had issues with my install (after reinstalling Java, Minecraft, and all of my drivers and applications) and it had no effect. The CPU overclock has had no effect on this, the issue happens at stock speeds as well. This issue does not happen because of the GPU as I've tried the GPU in other computers and 1.7.2 and up work just as well as 1.6.4. It's so slow that I've waited over 30 minutes after clicking on the multiplayer box and never gotten past the main menu. When I say extremely slow, I mean that it takes several minutes for it to register me moving my mouse over the box to select multiplayer. Problem: Minecraft 1.6.4 and prior work wonderfully on this PC, 45 - 60 fps easily, but 1.7.2 and above get extremely slow. GPU Drivers: 81.98 on Windows 98, 93.71 on XPīackground Applications: Windows Media Player 9 (issue occurs with and without it running) Operating System: Windows 98 SE/Windows XP SP3 PSU: Model Unknown, came from a late 90s NEC Ready 9883 I have the accompanying driver CD.Īny ideas would be greatly appreciated.GPU: nVidia GeForce 4 MX 440 with 64MB of VRAMĬPU: AMD Athlon XP 2400+ overclocked to 2.3GHz from 2GHz The problem is, I don't know which drivers to install and how exactly to install them. Or I perhaps could do something in the recovery console using the "enable" command. If so, I could install them on the operable older motherboard. (i.e., there isn't a fundamental problem with the harddrive).įrom snooping, i am lead to believe it is probably IDE drivers or perhaps other ones. Also, an image of the existing install on another ide drive fails the same way. The existing xp install works with other (older) boards. Knoppix and other fresh installs of linux work. However, there are some programs on the old install that I would not be able to recover, so I really would like to reuse the old install if at all possible. If I have to, I can go with the new install. (0xBA4C7528, 0xC0000034, 0x00000000, 0x00000000)Ī fresh install of XP from the same OEM CD that installed the existing XP works just fine. Running in no-restart mode, I get the following dump. When such is attempted, a reboot occurs at some point after a bunch of *.sys files are loaded. I have a G41M-P34 with an Intel E6500 and 4G ram for which I am hoping to use an existing XP install on an IDE drive.
